I am an self taught professional software developer with an B.Tech in CSE from IIT ROPAR. There is an wrong perception regarding this subject as many of us believe that this is only for the people who have relevant experience in this field or have some coding experience ABOULUTELLY WRONG!!!. You may have not written a single line of code but you can still be a very good programmer as coding is not about writing 10s and 100s line of code it's about understanding the basic concept in bits and pieces and combining the bits to solve a bigger problem. And as per my experience making the student understand the basic concepts is the most overlooked part due to which interest in this subject gets lost at later stage. I highly concentrate on making the students understand these basic concepts after which you will feel how easy is programming just collecting the right pieces to solve any problem ..
