As a teacher, what I have found is students in 9th standard, especially in Maths , have a fear of the board exam, parents' expectations, and the introduction of a few new topics, and it is all because of their lack of basic knowledge in Maths . If they are not able to cope up with this problem in the starting, then they have to suffer throughout the year. As a Maths teacher, this is my first responsibility is to work on students' basic concepts, release the fear of Maths , and let them enjoy the study. In Social Studies , they are very familiar with all books except Economics, which is very easy and interesting subject for them. In History, they will learn about world history, which will be more interesting for them.
