First and the foremost, In order to understand Newtons Second law of motion, we need to understand what acceleration is..Acceleration is nothing but rate of change of velocity of an object. Second law put in simplest terms explains how fast an object can move.. Second law states that Force is directly proportional to the rate of change of momentum of an object in the direction of an external force applied. i.e., F= dp/dt = ma Lets say u go to a park and find 2 kinds of balls - a rubber and a steel ball. We very well know that mass of rubber ball is less than that of a steel ball,so lesser force can be applied by you to move a rubber ball faster than that required for a steel ball. Another example is lets say ur friend stands on a skating board and asks you to push him. Lesser force is sufficient enough to push him to make him move on the skate board. But if the same friend comes in a car and suddenly tells ya that his car does not start and asks you to push him. It would take a much larger force to accelerate the car since its mass is more. Hope it is clear
