It is soluble in water and it is prepared by reacting silica sand and sodium carbonate at a high temperature ranging from 1200 to 1400OC. Aqueous solution of sodium silicate is called water glass.

The gas used in the manufacture of Vanaspati Ghee from Vanaspati Oil is Hydrogen. At high pressure, in the presence of nickel catalyst, hydrogen is mixed with vegetable oils which turn them into vegetable ghee. This process is called the hydrogenation of oils.

H2O2 can be reduced to H2O as well as it can be oxidised to O2. Hence, it can act as an oxidizing agent by itself getting reduced to H2O as well as it can act as a reducing agenct by getting oxidized to O2. Therefore, it can act as oxidizing as well as reducing agent.

Hydrogen is not preferred in balloons because it is combustible and explosive. It can catch fire readily. To prevent accidents, dihydrogen is not preferred instead helium is preferred in balloons.
