But not all vocal music is classical music; you have so many different genres of vocal music now such as pop, country, music theatre, hip-hop, blues, jazz, etc.

Carnatic music, known as Karnāṭaka saṃgīta or Karnāṭaka saṅgītam in the South Indian languages, is a system of music commonly associated with South India, including the modern Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. It is one of two main subgenres of Indian classical music that evolved from ancient Hindu texts and traditions, particularly the Samaveda.The other subgenre being Hindustani music, which emerged as a distinct form because of Persian or Islamic influences from Northern India. The main emphasis in Carnatic music is on vocal music; most compositions are written to be sung, and even when played on instruments, they are meant to be performed in gāyaki (singing) style.

vocal range refers to the full spectrum of notes that a singer's voice is able to produce, starting from the bottommost note and reaching to the uppermost note.

Vocal music and instrumental music share several similarities. Both forms of music rely on melody, harmony, rhythm, and dynamics to convey emotion and tell a story. Additionally, both vocal and instrumental music can be used to evoke specific moods, express cultural traditions, and convey artistic expression. However, the primary difference lies in the use of lyrics and the human voice in vocal music, while instrumental music relies solely on the sounds produced by musical instruments.
