To apply for the above exams, candidates have to begin the procedure with online registration. The process is lengthy and severe. However, to make it easy here is a step by step guide of UPSC registration:

a)  Browse the UPSC official website .

b)  Click : “Online application for various examinations of UPSC”.

c)  Form link :  Click here for the link.

d)  Before registering, do go through “Examination Notice” submenu of the “Guidelines to the Candidates” menu in the UPSC website.

e)  The online application of UPSC exam has two parts – Part I and Part II. You have to complete both the process for successful registration.

f)  On successful registration in the UPSC website, you will be given a system generated unique Registration ID. In the same screen all identifying information (as entered by the candidate) will be displayed. This includes:

  • Name of the candidate e’, ‘Father’s Name’, ‘Mother’s name’, ‘DOB’, ‘Address’, ‘Examination Centre’ and so on.
  • Its recommended to take a print out or screen shot of this particular page.

g)  This follows with a Transaction id, that you will get after making required payments.

h)  SC, ST, Physically Challenged and Women candidates are not required to pay fees.

i)  After the first time, whenever you will want to log in to your UPSC account for notice, update and so on, you will require this Registration ID. Hence, keep your Registration ID safe and noted.

j)  PART-II of UPSC Registration has 4 steps:

  • Uploading photograph
  • Uploading digital signature
  • Fee payment
  • Selecting exam center

k)  From the first day of registration in the UPSC website, till you are offered the final placement, do browse the UPSC website at regular intervals for updates and news feeds.

l)  Uploading image and signature

Images ( in .jpg format only)

Size   (not exceeding 40 KB each and must not be less than 3 KB)

Image size for digital signature : 1KB

Payment to UPSC Registration can be made in the following ways:

a)  Paying cash at any SBI branch through pay-in slip generated during online transaction.

b)  Online/internet banking

c)  Payment via master card/debit card/credit card
