Perimeter sums

Square:

1) A square farm filled with cows has a side of 20             metres. What is the perimeter of the farm?

Given: Side of a square farm (s) = 20 metres

To find: Perimeter of the farm

Solution: Perimeter of a Square = 4 × side

                                                         = 4 × 20

                                                         = 80 metres

Ans: Perimeter of the square farm is 80 metres.

2) Side of a book is 15 cm, the book is square in               shape. Find the perimeter of the book.

Given: Side of a book (s) = 15 cm

To find: Perimeter of the book

Solution: Perimeter of a Square = 4 × side

                                                         = 4 × 15

                                                         = 60 cm

Ans: Perimeter of the book is 60 cm.

Triangle:

1) Sides of a triangular sector is 4 metres, 6 metres         and 3 metres. Find the perimeter of the sector.

Given:  Sides of a triangular sector = 4, 6, 3 metres

To find: Perimeter of the sector

Solution: Perimeter of the triangle = sum of all sides

                                                              = 4 + 6 + 3

                                                              = 13 metres

Ans: Perimeter of the sector is 13 metres.

2) Three sides of a triangle are 5 cm each. Find it's           perimeter.

Given: Each side of a triangle = 5 cm

To find: Perimeter of triangle

Solution: Perimeter of triangle = sum of all sides

                                                       = 5 + 5 + 5

                                                       = 15 cm

Ans: Perimeter of the triangle is 15 cm.

Rectangle:

1) Length of a rectangular plot is 25 metres and it's           breadth is 15 metres. What is the perimeter?

Given: Length of a plot (l) = 25 metres

             Breadth of a plot (b) = 15 metres

To find: Perimeter of the plot

Solution: Perimeter of a rectangle = 2 (l + b)

                                                             = 2 (25 + 15)

                                                             = 2 (40) i.e 2 × 40

                                                             = 80 metres

Ans: Perimeter of the plot is 80 metres.

2) The sides of a rectangular field are 150 metres and 120 metres. Find the perimeter of the rectangular field.

Given: Length of the field (l) = 150 metres

Breadth of the field (b) = 120 metres

To find: Perimeter of the field

Solution: Perimeter of the field = 2 (l + b)

                                                        = 2 (150 + 120)

                                                        = 2 (270)

                                                        = 540 metres

Ans: Perimeter of the field is 540 metres.
