The area of a circle is the total space inside the circle.

If radius of the circle = r

Then, Area of the circle = πr2 sqare units

Here, π=22/7=3.14 aproximately

Ex:-

radius of the circle = r = 14cm

Area of the circle = πr2

= (22/7)x14x14

=22x2x14

=616 cm2

The perimeter of the rectangle is the total length of the outline of the rectangle.

It is nothing but sum of the all the four sides of the rectangle.

If Length of the rectangle = l

Breadth(width) of the rectangle = b

Then , formula to find the PERIMETER of rectangle is given by

P =2( l + b ) units

ex:-

If Length of the rectangle = l = 40 cm

Breadth(width) of the rectangle = b = 10cm

Area of rectangle (P) =2( l + b )

A = 2(40 + 10)

= 100 cm

The **electron affinity** (*E*_{ea}) of a molecule or an atom or is the amount of energy *spent* or released when an electron is added to a neutral atom or molecule in the gaseous state to form a negative ion.

**F****actors affecting the electron affinity:**-

1) Atomic size:- Atomic size increases ELECTRON AFFINITY decreases.

2)Nuclear Charge:- Nuclear Charge ELECTRON AFFINITY increases.

**TREND OF The electron affinity IN PERIODIC TABLE:-**

In the period:- In the period from left to right **electron affinity** increases because

1) Nuclear Charge increases from left to right in the period.

2)Atomic size decreases

3)Hence In the period from left to right electrons can be easily added thus more elections gets combined means more energy liberates.

In the group: -from top to the bottom **electron affinity **of elements decreases because-

1)atomic size goes on increases from top to bottom in the same group.

2)Hence attraction force between the nucleus and valence electron decreases.

3) Thus a lesser chance of electrons getting added means minor energy liberation.
