It is definitely worth paying that much if you receive the required techniques. Ear training is not that easy if you do it by yourself. It will take a lot of time just to figure the correct approach and the path. Guidance is always better for improvement. However, it also depends on the skills of the tutor as well as how much benefit you are taking from each lesson he/she gives. If you make the most of it, it is totally worth it. In the end, you always have an option to discontinue the class after few sessions. You will surely get a sense of understanding if the tutor is right.
