JAVA is a Technology(not only a programming language) to develop Object-oriented and Platform Independent applications. IT covers almost all the programming domains. You can establish console applications, GUI applications, web applications, server applications, mobile applications etc. Java comes with many flavours to fulfil the requirements of each of the programming domain. JSE and JEE are the two most appealing flavours among students. One should begin with JSE to explore Java world.

Excel will definately help you in getting job , but since you're persuing Masters in Computer Application , you must atleast give some effort to programming , As this will grow you , boost you in IT Industry , Just Start with C Programming , code 50-60 programs on every topics ( Like on OPerators , flow controls , ternary operators , loops , nested loops , functions , Arrays , Strings , Pointers etc)
