Nose breathing happens as regular. But mouth breath is what you should practice and bring under control for the better sustain on the lyrics and swaras.

Voice is the major investment of the singer that fetches the popularity and earning for his/her life. Singers obviously use their voices in very special ways, influenced by training and esthetic values (self learning and imagination) that make their voice appealing and suitable for singing a particular style of music. The various tone quality of a singer's voice can be determined as follows:

Six essential requirements for a good singing voice:-
(1) `Sraavaka' is explained as loudness or carrier of the voice, which can be heard from a long distance.
(2) The voice that is loud and pleasing with out any wobble is called `ghana'.
(3) The voice which does not sound harsh though loud, is described as `snigdha'. This also refers to the `fluency' of producing the notes of high octaves.
(4) The voice that is pleasant at high notes is called `madhura'.
(5) `avadhanavan' is explained as a voice that is neither too loud nor too soft.
(6) `tristhanashobha' is that voice which is pleasant in producing the notes of all the three `sthanaas' (equivalent of registers).

Requirement and merits of the singing voice
(1) taara (sweetness in the high octaves).
(2) anudhvani (rich on account of harmonics).
(3) madhuryam (sweetness).
(4) raktih (attractive).
(5) gambhiryam (Full or loud).
(6) mardavaih (beautiful).
(7) ganata (rich).
(8) kanthih (smooth and bright) «less

Vinod replied | 21/07/2016

Opera singing is a study of western music. If you choose western classical lessons then you will understand about Opera singing

0 0

Mohammed Haroon replied | 27/07/2016

What is operatic sound first lets clear this,
Operatic sound or any other singing is based on your true voice, The reason why opera singer sound this way because in opera houses there is no microphones and to sing for 1000+ audiences you need not to shout but really sing and if you learn proper technique you can use your voice the way you want.

What is the difference between projection singing and shouting?

0 0

Mohammed Haroon replied | 27/07/2016

singing with breath pressure and support is projected singing which is nice and healthy singing and singing by pushing and squeezing your throat and body is shouting, which kills your voice.

0 0

Vinod replied | 03/09/2016

projection singing is using your abdomen and diaphragm with managed voice control. Shouting is a flat voice with the right scale, but it may damage the vocal cords..

Natanapriya replied | 04/05/2016

Yes Mr. Jaswinder, if you have a voice and you are willing to practice as per the instructions of your guru and have a passion for singing, you can. But its normally suggested the person to be in the age group of 5 to 65 years but there is no hard and fast rule. If your vocal cords are working and you have good breathing / holding capabilities it will help further
