How To Take A Good Photograph?

Next time you pick up a camera, do not take a photograph, but make a photograph. Look at the picture in front of your eyes and go over the following attributes before you click the shutter: 

i. Colour / black and white: What is approprite? 

ii. Horizontal / vertical: Which format is correct for the image?

iii. Angle of light: front / left / right / back: See if a different angle improves the picture.

iv. Angle of camera: Low / middle / high.

v. Subject matter: Caption, Can you think of some words for the image?

vi. Balance: Blacks / colour vibgyor, weight / harmony. Are the colours in balance?

vii. Lens: Wide / tele. What is the proper lens for this image?

viii. Exposure: Shutter speed, sharp / motion. Should you keep it sharp or show movement?

ix. Exposure: Aperture, depth of field. Different apertures give different results.

x. Composition: Centre of interest.

xi. Composition: Shapes / square / triangle / round.

xii. Composition: Pattern.

xiii. Composition: Lines / horizon / vertical / s curve.

xiv. Composition: Framing / fore-ground / middle-ground / back-ground.

xv. Composition: Cropping, can cropping improve the image.

xvi. Emotion: Humour / cry / anger / nostalgia, does the image have any emotion.
