About the Course
The Fellowship in Pain Medicine Course introduces the student to best practices in Pain Management. This course focuses on teaching comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to management of pain in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The course is well structured and covers topics such as the basic sciences, assessment, evaluation, diagnosing the cause, different types of pain and treatment modalities.
Topics CoveredThe Fellowship in Pain Medicine course is covered under three modules.
Module 1 : Covers the introduction, basic sciences (anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology), evaluation and assessment of pain
Module 2 : Covers the various clinical pain syndromes
Module 3: Covers the interventions in pain management
During the Course students will be familiarized with the basic principles of Acute and Chronic Pain Management At the end of the course, a fellow should be able to
Understand the basic concepts relevant to pain (i.e.) the anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology.
Diagnose the type of pain.
Evaluate the cause by comprehensive assessment of pain (i.e.), a detailed history, physical examination and application of pain assessment tools.
Use the diagnostic interventions necessary for diagnosis and management of Pain.
Treat the patients by using the different pharmacological options available for use of Pain Relief (opioids, antidepressants, anticonvulsants, antiarrythmics etc.)
Make a psychological assessment and use treatment techniques including behavioral therapy and other non-pharmacological methods.
Learn about various and latest Interventional Techniques and be able to perform some common and simple procedures to treat the common pain syndromes.

Specialists in Anesthesia, Oncology, Orthopedics, Surgery, Internal Medicine and others interested in Pain Management
One year online with 2 weeks of contact program for MBBS graduates: 6 months online with 1 week contact program for specialists.
Pre-requisitesEvaluation and Certification
For MBBS: There will be three module tests. The final examination will be held on completion of the online study and the successful completion of the three module tests. For specialists: one final test after the completion of the online study.
A "Fellowship in Pain Medicine" will be awarded to those who successfully complete the module tests, the final exam and contact program by Medvarsity and AHERF.
Course Fee : Rs. 40,000 payable in single installment or Rs. 42,000 in Two equal installments of Rs.21,000 each
