About the Course

One month Summer Training Program on “Automotive System design and development” specially targeted on Formula1 Car Design & Development with comprehensive theory & design , providing advanced learning of Automobile designing & manufacturing.

COURSE HAS BEEN DIVIDED
INTO THREE PARTS
=>Learning
=>Designing
=>Open Classroom

Topics Covered

Learning Session:

This is the “Theory Session” of the program where the concepts of Automotive design & Manufacturing will be taught which would help in Designing session.

Designing:
After understanding the whole automobile concepts & their design approach we design a fresh car where the problem statement will be “To design a CONCEPT VEHICLE (high performance Formula and Versatile track BAJA buggy).

Open ClassRoom:

Open classroom consists of following activities –

Hands-On – FSAE or ATV Assembling and dissembling/ Demonstration
Case Study on Baja/FSAE/Automobile industry and project report making
• Group Presentation
• Guest Lecture from industry expert
• A Day with Mechanic/workshop /any Current FSAE/Baja Team interaction
• RC car demonstration and Stunt Show
• CFD Basics and Fluent flow
• Design of impact attenuator
• Manufacturing and Fabrication techniques
• Design optimization -Typical engineering systems are described by very large numbers of variables, and it is the designer's task to specify appropriate values for these variables. Skilled designers utilize their knowledge, experience, and judgment to specify these variables and design effective engineering systems. Because of the size and complexity of the typical design task, however, even the most skilled designers are unable to take into account all of the variables simultaneously. Design optimization is the application of numerical algorithms and techniques to engineering systems to assist the designers in improving the system's performance, weight, reliability, and/or cost.

A complete project report on Design Optimization so that students uses it as their major/minor project report

• The major portions are:
• Performance goal setting
• Design initiation & iterations
• Feasibility discussions at steps
• Paper report preparation of design
• CAD, CAM & CAE of the design done
• Cost report preparation
• Business & marketing report preparation
• CFD Analysis of Plenum
• Reduction of Aerodynamic drag
• Spoiler Design
• Drive analysis
• Ergonomics and safety considerations
