About me and my work

I, Shagun was born in Kolkata, India in the year 1988. I started my initial intensive training at very tender age from my mother and acquired further knowledge by practicing in my free times. From my childhood, through my teens and early adulthood, i knew and pursued my passion for drawing, painting and design, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. My art education, instruction and mentoring from my mother has provided me with a broad spectrum of understanding and appreciation for all aspects of art.

I am an abstract expressionist artist specializing in acrylic mixed paintings. My fine art expresses a depth of unique texture and color. As an abstract expressionist, I am interested in individual expression of the emotions and the inner self rather than impressions of the material world. I use acrylics and mixed media to convey what I see through the mind’s eye while observing nature, textures and created objects. As color and texture is applied layer upon layer, what is on the inside begins to emerge. I allowed my paintings to take me on a journey - each one being an exploration of identity capturing mood, layers of emotions and the subconscious with an intentional purpose to evoke the viewer's own interpretation.



My high aesthetic sense, and artistic sensibilities along with my inner soft nature gave recognition both in home and aboard as an eminent artist as well as an adept accompanist.

My stylized portraits of nature share similar features yet each remains distinct. The truth behind these expressions is never fully revealed. Contour lines flatten and compartmentalize shapes while simultaneously emphasizing the intrinsically balanced aspects of the design. Repeating lines and shapes create natural, rhythmic elements in my works.



I am presently offering professional illustrations, fine art paintings, and mural specifically created for the needs of my clients. With a broad range from Illustrative work to a highly textural, tactile Painting Style. I create artwork for clients from Private and Corporate Art Collections to design work for Professional and Corporate use.

I am conducting Arts and crafts classes for kids and also doing small workshops on “waste material utilization”, “Origamy” etc.

Overall, My art has been most influenced by nature thus making my specialization in Natural, Floral, Landscape, Feng-Shui, Abstract, Colour Melody, Mixture of Natural, Imaginary and Theme paintings.
