Vectors are the quantities having magnitude as well as direction. eg. Velocity , force.
1.Bus is moving with velocity 30m/s towards north
2.Bus is moving with velocity 30m/s
In 1st statment you are getting information about speed of the bus i.e. magnitude and the direction in which bus is going . Such quantities are called vector.
In 2nd statment you are not getting the direction. So such quantities are called scalar
