About the Course

Dates: May 8th - May 12th

Time: 10:00am to 12:30pm

Ages: 12+

Objective of this Camp

This Arduino Camp exposes participants to the Arduino computing platform. The camp progresses from Arduino basics of simple programs and interfacing, to Advanced projects like a Arduino Powered Obstacle avoiding car.

Participants will acquire an in depth understanding of the Arduino Platform and to formalize their Arduino skills by experience gained through working on a project.

What is an Arduino?

Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. Itâ??s intended for anyone making interactive projects. You can read about it more from this link.

Arduino boards are able to read inputs â?? light on a sensor, a finger on a button- and turn it into an output â?? activating a motor, turning on an LED,

You can tell your Arduino what to do by sending a set of instructions to the microcontroller on the board. To do so you use the Arduino programming language (based on Wiring), and the Arduino Software (IDE), based on Processing.

The camp exposes the participants to the above paradigms and concepts in a easy to understand manner.

Camp Layout

Day 1:

Basics of a computer, Introduction to a Micro Processor, Memory types, Introduction to Algorithms and Flowcharts, Getting started with Arduino, software installation, writing our first basic program to blink a light, building patterns on a row of lights.

Day 2:

Recap, Introduction to inputs in Arduino, reading inputs from users, controlling lights in set patterns using switches.

Day 3:

Recap, Introduction to H-bridge Motor Drivers and Ultrasonic Sensors, Arduino Library Installation and testing. Control motor Direction using distance sensor. Writing routines for motion and behaviors.

Day 4 and Day 5

Recap, Car Construction and fitting parts. Installing electronics, completing code and testing the obstacle avoiding car.

Materials Required

Participants are expected to carry a laptop ( Windows, Mac or Linux) for all days during the camp. All other material will be provided. A book and a pen/pencil to take notes is recommended.
