Hi there, various tools are available for MIS reporting now these days. Apart from Excel and VBA; you should also learn MS Access, which is a database tool. Automation and Data Analytics techniques would be some added advantages. Furthermore, you may go for some statistical analysis also with the help of other tools like SAS, BigData, Hadoop, Tableau etc.

To rename filename of excel spreadsheet just select the file and press F2 and type the name then enter. To rename a any sheet inside Excel Spreadsheet press Alt >H>O>R (Press 1 by 1 not all together) and type the name hen enter.

Right click on the name of the excel sheet e.g. sheet1, sheet2 etc. A small menu will appear select rename option from it then type new name and click anywhere. Sheet name will be changed.

This records the Keystrokes, Mouse Clicks you perform on excel and repeats them automatically in the same sequence when you run the macro but recording macro has limitations. Sometimes, It does not record your actions exactly the way you want and we need to write some custom codes...  more»

Assuming that the given date is in the Cell A1
If you want to know the serial number for the given date for the year use =A1+1-DATE(TEXT(A1,"yyyy"),1,1)
If you want to know the weekday name then simply use =TEXT(A1,"DDD") for 3 letter days e.g. Sun, Mon, etc.
OR use =TEXT(A1,"DDDD") full days e.g. Sunday, Monday, etc.

vlookup formula searches data vertically. Make sure your lookup value should be in first column of lookup array, freeze the array if need to drag. Give the column index and false for exact match the value in array
