Sarmistha Ganguly

I am a certified IELTS trainer from The British Council. I completed my B.A. in 1987 from Calcutta University. I also hold a certification in TEFL from AAEFL, which I did in 2021. I’m a senior professional with a comprehensive experience in corporate training and development. I started training for IELTS in 2020.

I've had more than three decades of experience working as an HR professional, which has given me a wealth of training and development knowledge. After a successful career in HR, I decided to leave the human resources industry and pursue my love of teaching. After considering my alternatives, I decided to pursue a career in IELTS training. IELTS allowed me to develop, mentor students, and follow my passion.

I conduct one-on-one classes because they give the students a more focused and rewarding experience. Academic and general training is solely delivered online. Each class lasts about an hour, with a one- to two-day break. Every student's needs and preferences are considered as the classes are carefully designed and adaptable.

The syllabus for my classes and courses follows the Cambridge model. Lessons are structured over a thirty-hour schedule in the classes. Through practice exams, I routinely evaluate the student's progress and knowledge. To give my students practice, I use PowerPoint presentations in class. Practice questions are included in the lectures. Every class ends with homework. Before moving on to the next lesson, we discuss the errors in the next class. My classes involve a lot of participation. My strategy emphasises the student, who "gets to speak more than the teacher." This helps me gain insight into the student's knowledge and determine where they need to grow and where they can improve to achieve a higher band score.

I am also a certified career counsellor. I offer career advice to both professionals and students. International Standardized Tests, personality assessments, and one-on-one discussions are used to conduct the counselling sessions.

The sessions give professionals a clear job choice and clarity for students' futures. My previous corporate experience helps significantly in influencing young minds. My prior management experience gives me organisational insight into many corporate organisations. It also enables me to offer counselling and direction to people, assisting them in identifying their key talents and potential career advancement paths. The way the sessions are run is intended to give students clarity on their academic path to ensure successful future growth.
