NIIT pioneered IT education and training in India in 1982. Over the years NIIT has developed a range of curricula for people with diverse requirements - from students seeking careers in computers to IT professionals needing advanced training; from business managers seeking a competitive edge to housewives wanting to be computer literate.

With a view to build a distinct brand identity and to give the most appropriate programs to different market segments, the entire education offerings from NIIT India are divided into three separate brands - NIIT Im, CATS and SWIFT.

Under Futurz, NIIT offers to students a series of e-Commerce programs including the 4-year comprehensive iGNIIT program. NIIT's flagship program, iGNIIT, is the only IT curriculum that offers one year's industry training through Professional Practice (PP). In the final year of the iGNIIT program, students are placed in organizations to gain a year's invaluable work experience.

NIIT conducts surveys with top industry executives to understand their requirements and broaden its course content. NIIT, thus, introduced e-Commerce Computing, Technology Edge, Quality Management and Personal Effectiveness into its iGNIIT curriculum. The iGNIIT curriculum is woven around Microsoft technologies giving the student the advantage of simultaneously preparing for Microsoft Certifications. Other courses with partnership from CISCO, HP, Google etc are also available to the candidates.
