Biswarup Ghosh Dastidar

Born in the small yet serene town of Jalpaiguri in the picturesque North Bengal. Bishwarup’s formative years have been in the vicinity of nature which in turn has nurtured his talent. He has traveled a long way from Jalpaiguri to Kolkata, only to give vent to his passion for music. Trained under the guidance of veterans like Kakali Roy, Mira Dutta Roy, Shri Sisir Gupta, Jatileshwar Mukhopadhyaya, Sunit Chattopadhyaya, Anal Chattopadhyaya and later pandit Ajoy Chakroborty, today he has established himself as a proficient singer. He was felicitated by Paschim Banga Rajya Sangeet Academy in 1989 and by HMV in 1992.

He reinvented himself as a lyricist as well as a music composer. His compositions Batas Dakena and Sujon, Bhuban Majhi and Ke Bajae, all by Subhamita were superhit. Nachiketa, Rupankar, Jojo, Baishakhi Chowdhury, Madhumita Saha, Shampa Kundu are amongst others who have lent their voices to Bishwarup’s compositions. Two albums based on Tagore’s songs, Srabon Bidaye (Soumitro Chattopadhyaya, Sraboni Sen and Rupankar) and Shyama (Shampa Kundu, Subrata Roy, Shantanu Roy Chowdhury and Sraboni Sen) have added feathers to his cap. He has recorded songs for Sagarika, Kozmic Harmony, Prime Music, Abhuraag and Moserbaer and on. In 2011, he was nominated in the “BEST LYRICIST” category by Anadabazar KKN Group. His composition “Saiyan” sung by Dipannita Acharya, was awarded as the “BEST SONG OF THE YEAR 2013” by Radio Mirchi.
He owns more than 400 released Bengali songs.
