I completed my MBBS in 2002 from M.S. Ramaiah medical college and worked as a clinical practitioner for a few years, of which I served 2 years in the NHS, United Kingdom. It was during this period that I realized that my true passion lay in teaching. So I switched from clinical practice and started off a teaching career. Physiology had always been my first love and my years of clinical practice deepened my insights into this subject that forms the very foundation of medical science. I subsequently completed my MD Physiology from KMC Mangalore. For a first year medical student, the medical curriculum can be very intimidating. It is here that the teacher's role becomes very important. I have always attempted at delivering my lectures from a student's point of view. I believe in stimulating their thought process and making learning an active and enjoyable process. I aim at strengthening their fundamental concepts while connecting these to simple, day to day analogies as well as applied and clinical aspects. I ensure that they have understood the concepts and are capable of tackling examinations. I have received a lot of positive feedback from my students and the most common feedback has been that I make Physiology a very simple subject for them so that they lose their fear of it. Remote teaching requires more effective engagement and my corporate training has enabled me to develop remote engagement skills.
