8th class would be ideal. But don't pressure upon him. He should prepare on comparative pattern based and increase his skills sportively.

every child should improve the conceptional learning rather than formula based ..as in any competitive exam most of the questions. come without direct formulae application...especially in IIT..ENTRANCE...if child is comfortable with the curriculum... then why u need separate foundation...be aware of psuodo foundation cls..now a days..

To crack IIT JEE a student need lot of hard work,Understanding capability and Analytical skills.A student level will not be judged just based upon the marks he got,but his view of looking at the problem.

A lot of my known people have got their children started as early as 7th std and as late as 11th, so do think it's late to get into a foundation course. I live in Indore and have heard particularly positive reviews of Catalyser coaching institute for giving good results. All the best. «less

It’s not too early or too late, rather 9th Class is a perfect time to join IIT-JEE coaching. This shows you’re very much focused. You should join Foundation Course of Catalyzer Institute which is THE best for IIT-JEE preparations. They conduct classes right from class 8th and make the firm foundation for JEE.
