You might be aware of tier II pattern of SSC CHSL too.
It includes two sections:
1. Letter/Application
2. Essay Writing.
Never wait to start preparation of Tier II after the result of TIER I.
If you think so, you are not confident of yourself and far from Toppers.
Tips for cracking TIER II
1. Start studying "The Editorial's column", The Hindu newspaper....  more»

Reading newspaper will be helpful but the you will not be able to remember words you read so it is important to practice those words by speaking among friends or to develop a writing habit making either short sentences or small paragraphs or stories. For Grammar you can use books like S. P. Bakshi and R.S. Aggarwal or Arihant publication books.

it depends on you exam means (sbi/po) if it is sbi so you need any classroom program ,apart from this go for news papers specially finance related paper so you can cover current affairs also.
but for ibps classroom program is not much needed,just read the basic grammar and practice the old papers
