Dear Swetha, it depends on the student. But ideally the SAT Course takes 45 days and about 60 hours for the knowledge transfer. Any other queries, you can mail me.

Dear Kinsha and all those who wish this query is addressed TOEFL is only applicable in USA and IELTS is applicable in all English speaking countries. Having said that, one who is very confident in his/her speaking abilities and writing stand a good chance in TOEFL because the Independent Speaking task gives less preparation and even less time, 45 seconds to be precise, to talk on an abstract topic. There are 2 Independent Speaking Tasks. The other 4 Speaking Tasks in the Speaking section are Integrated, in which, again, the gift of the gab comes in handy. Independent Writing tasks are very similar in all the International English Testing exams, while the TOEFL Integrated Writing Task can be a challenge if one cannot listen, comprehend and reproduce the points lined up in the listening part in this section well. Here again, language skills can come in handy. Reading Comprehension, especially Academic module, in IELTS is the toughest of them all. All in all, it can be said that for students whose language skills are good, neither IELTS not TOEFL can be an impediment. For those whose language skills are under-cooked, any English exam can be a bother!!! S.Venu

This is because of the integrated modules like Speaking and Writing, which require you to listen and then Speak or Write, depending on the module. Also, since you would encounter American Accent in your MS Program, it is better to take TOEFL because except Reading, all the other modules have listening, which is mostly in American Accent. American Accent is very rarely found in IELTS. Also, if I were and American, I would prefer a TOEFL score than IELTS, if I had to choose between them. Venu venuvirgo69@gmail.com

Dear Manshi The Anaytical Writing section is the one non-native speakers of English detest most. The intent of ETS in administering this test is to get students to do the unpleasant task first. Apart from this, notice the time that you need to spend on the task and the returns you get for such an effort, which must tell you that students who only target high returns for their efforts will ignore both Issue and Argument Tasks at their peril. These tasks are extremely crucial because the good Universities look at the AWA Score, the Verbal Score in GRE, and your Statement of Purpose (Incidentally I am an SOP Specialist, with my second helping a student cross over to Stanford). It is expected that since almost all students who opt for MS will be from an Engineering study background, Math will be done well. As far as Issue Task is concerned, the expectations are: Understanding of the topic and what you are expected to write How clearly you think, which is known by what position you take and explain Thought process and flow of ideas, meaning how you connect example in the 'body of the text' How you use different examples to explain different facets of the topic and your perspective How you sum up taking a leader's position, without being narrow in your outlook Regarding Argument Task, the expectations are simple: How you identify gaps in the logic How you fill the gaps How you make the Argument complete by filling the gaps Apologies for the humour, but think like an ideal Mother-in-law or Daughter-in-law. How and how many faults you can point out is the game.
