Teaching Tasks

If you decide to teach at the elementary school level, donâ??t be surprised if you end up instructing subjects other than math, especially if you are teaching at the very early grade levels. For example, since first graders donâ??t usually leave the classroom except to attend special classes like P.E., you will be expected to teach these students math, reading, spelling, and any other subjects or material that the state determines they should know. As kids get older, they start to change classes instead of just staying in one room all day, and then teachers will begin to specialize in particular subjects. As a result, if you happen to teach kids at the middle grades or higher, you will most likely only be teaching math. You might be teaching the same math class several times to the same grade, or you could be teaching multiple classes to various grade levels, depending on the size of the school.
