I am into teaching for the past 22 years. I love teaching and am very passionate about it. a before a vowel is possible?

An 'a' before a vowel is possible when the vowel takes a consonant sound. Eg: a useful thing, a university.

Why do we pronounce a long second vowel in “decide”, but a short second vowel in “decision”?

According to one of the rules of pronunciation in English, whenever a word ends with "e", the vowel preceding it takes a long sound. Therefore we pronounce a long second vowel in the word 'decide'.

I can speak and write english very well the only problem with me is SPELLING

You need to concentrate on the rules of pronunciation and keep practicing to improve your vocabulary by playing word games.

According to the rule, in a word if there are two vowels and the word end with an 'e', then the first vowel takes a long sound and the 'e' remains silent.
