Bryophytes, contrary to other plants can't live in a water free environnement.Because they need water for reproduction. The Bryophytes are called amphibians of the plant world because they cannot live away from water. While reproducing, the gamete produced by the bryophyte will need water to travel from the male gametophyte to the femelle one. It works like flower's pollen in the wind but here in water. http://mousse.lescigales.org/multiplication.php As you can see, the gamete are release in a "goutte d'eau" witch is french for "drop of water". those drops full of gamete will then flow on the plants and fall on one the female gametophyte. Therefor water is an essential part of bryophyte life.

1. The disadvantages or the limitations of the five kingdom classification system are as follows ? 2. A distinction between unicellular and multicellular organisms is not possible in case of algae in this system of classification. 3. Each group has so many diversities that it is difficult to keep them together. For example, monera and Protista contain both walled and wall-less organisms. Photosynthetic and non-photosynthetic organisms, cellular or filamentous organism. 4. Virus has not been included in this kingdom. 5. Archaebacteria differ from other bacteria in structure, composition and physiology. 6. Mycoplasma are quite different form bacteria where they have been placed along with prokaryotes. 7. Symbiotic associations are not considered in this classification system. For example, lichens are organisms which are formed by the symbiotic association between fungi and algae.
