Pranjal replied | 14/06/2016

The main difference b/w rock n jazz is that there are more notes in jazz which makes it much more complicated than any other music genre. Also, an accomplished jazz player can move in and out of rock whereas a rock player finds it more difficult to do so in jazz. There are always exceptions.

However, if you practise for fifteen minutes a day, you will notice that things are getting easier after just one week. There is such a thing as ‘natural aptitude' — so some people naturally learn things faster than others — but perseverance will always prevail. Lots of people who learn slowly at first learn better and faster in the long run (usually because those people are taking the time to figure out what they are doing). «less

However, it is not clear whether you could give time for practice (as little as half an hour per day) during week days. If you can that would be fantastic. All depends on motivation, practice and how much far you want to go. Generally, those who want 'it' just for hobby don't go far and if you are really interested in something it generally goes far beyond hobby. Commit at least for one year and join some good and reputed Institute rather than doing it at home or on Internet. A good Institute provides, besides qualified and experienced teachers, good ambiance and fellow students who could keep you motivated and on right track. «less

Before messing with chords, it is highly recommended to get acquainted with the strings, their gaps (which must be wired to your brains), then get started with playing with the frets, by then your sore finger stage would have been over, and you should have acquired enough finger flexibility, dexterity and motor skills to take on the wild world of CHORDS :D

Learning guitar for a newbie is a time taking process, it needs dedication, patience and practice. If you apply these three methods then everything will fall in place. To learn staff notation from foundation level it takes minimum of 3months just to complete the basics. Well this depends on your practice levels too, if you don't practice regularly I'm afraid it might take many months. 3months is the minimum period to learn basics and everything else depends on your interest. «less

It'll be a bit difficult if you are a absolute beginner. Even though all the lessons are available online from beginners to advanced, but the way to approach is not available. I'll suggest that if you can seek someone's advice, that what to watch, then there is no issue. It'll be rather better if someone can occasionally assist you if you are moving on a right track or not.
