Do I need a German teacher to learn German grammar?

Nikhil replied | 27/03/2016

Its important to have a teacher no matter which language are you learning. There are some different pronunciations and exceptions in a new language , which only your teacher can teach you. And it also needs a different accent to say new words.

Mangesh replied | 18/04/2016

It is not a must. But then you need lot of self discipline, and you must ready to take that extra efforts. A teacher can answer many your "why so...." questions. In absence of teacher you will have to find the answers yourself. Another thing a teacher does is to correct your exercises and suggest you improvements. All these things you will have to do on your own.

Pranay replied | 26/05/2016

First read the english text twice and try to understand the context, than translate with the help of monolingual dictionary, so that u can translate better. And dont translate word to word. Try to give the specific sense of specific language.

The major part in German language grammar is definitely articles because it's the basic on which all the rules of cases of German language such as nominativeaccusative , dative, and genitive depends. And one more thing that German grammar is full of exceptions every rule of grammar has one or the other exceptions wherein students who lacks the practice might have to face a trouble.

Alex Bennett replied | 24/06/2016

Following my experience I would say, there is not THE major part in German Language grammar. There are several aspects: The genders of the nouns, the articles, the cases, the rules, that some verbs are followed by distinct cases, the construction of the sentences, a.s.o. Also it depends on the student. Some of them have more problems here, some other more problems there...

Make sure that teacher is either from German speaking country or he/she was living there for few years. because its also important to know the culture or communication style of German people. it will be very useful to keep your interest in learning new languages and you will be eager to know more and more about the country, culture and language.

Natasha replied | 11/06/2016

Hi Guruprasad, learning a foreign language is about 1) Technique to understand it since it's foreign to you 2) Time devoted towards it since it requires a bit of hard work 3) Passion for it since there will be times when you might feel as if it's too tough to learn the language in a foreign environment

So please look for these qualities in your teacher.

Good Luck!

It depends on the way he/she teaches. If the teacher is willing to help you excel, you shouldn't consider experience as the deciding factor :)
