You can improve your french vocabulary the same way as you would for any language,i.e. read as much as you can and try to converse with someone who is good in french. Also try to write on different topics and get someone to correct it for you so that you understand better the nuances of usage of grammar too

Watch french films and read books. Always, always keep a dictionary with you. It's hard work and a painfully slow process but ability to pick up a language has much to do with interest levels.
