Of course! There are a lot of prominent international drummers to even prove that point - Sheila E, Hilary Jones, Cindy Blackman, and most recently of course - Anika Nilles.

Of course, YES! However, if you mean whether they generally opt for drums vis-a-vis, say, violin, then may be their choice would be the latter. There are many fine (and famous) female drum players.

Hi, Sunitha,
Nothing on the drums is difficult to master provided you're willing to put in the practice time and be patient. They say that practice makes perfect, but perfection is only an imaginary goal that no one actually attains. Practising with the following, more realistic goals in mind will really help you out in your musical journey -
1. Practice to get your playing to sound really good! (first to your ears, then to the ears of a professional musician/drummer, and lastly - the general public)
2. Practice to have great timing. Working with a metronome and playing along to music will really help you with this.
3. Practice to do justice to the music you play by understanding the musical context that you're in and support it well.
4. Practice to play comfortably with other musicians, and to put them at ease when they're playing. There's nothing quite as re-assuring for a band as having a dependable drummer hold the fort for them.
5. Practice just because playing the drums is so much fun! :-)

If you do all these things consistently over time, you will find yourself that much closer to mastering whatever you play. Hope you find this answer helpful. «less

There are so many great colleges out there. Berklee College Of Music, Drummers Collective and Musicians Institute are fantastic, to name a few! There are lots of other music schools/colleges in the US that are really really good! Canada, Germany and England also have some great academies and tutors.

Parameswaran replied | 16 Apr

There is no such thing as the best institute. The amount of practise you put in is what matters ultimately. All the drummers around the world have put in several hours of playing that has brought them to where they are today. This is the only way up...

What's the best drum brand for metal playing?

Show previous answers

Jon replied | 05 Jan

You don't need any specific brand's Drums kit to play metal.

Wesley replied | 16 Feb

Drum Brands don't matter. A good standard size drum kit with suitable tuning (you will have to tune the drum kit to suit your musical preferences) and a fat sounding snare is what will actually help.

There is no such thing as the world's best drummer, but there are a lot of legends who are literally drum gods! Too many to name! Vinnie Colaiuta, Dennis Chambers, Jojo Mayer, Dave Weckl, Steve Gadd, Jeff Porcaro, Steve Smith, Tony Williams, Jack Dejohnette, Elvin Jones, Steve Jordan, and a ton more would come into this list.

Music education, in its structure, is similar to that of general education as taught in schools. It is about lessons and assessment. A qualified music institute prepares a coursework to support progressive learning. And typically, such progression is best achieved over one-full calendar year. It maybe useful for you to ask the annual tuition fee for a coursework or programme. You can then divide it into month or quarterly terms. The fee structure varies drastically between home-tuition and institute classes. In our experience any lesson, be it in music or general education or sports, that extends beyond 45 min, set in learning lethargy and loss of concentration. Most reputed institutions, which we know of, take single lesson sessions not exceeding 45-50 min. «less
