In my student life we friends used to form a group for study through discussion where I always lead the forum. The same habit inspired me to take teaching as my career option and eventually I am a successful teacher over 15 years at various level though I formally taught at higher classes (UG and PG).
I got opportunities to teach foreign students the basics of Sanskrit language and specialized subjects like grammar, literature and Indian philosophy in Sanskrit. My students were from various countries like Korea, Thailand, Denmark, France, Mexico who had come to India for learning Sanskrit.
I have knowledge of 5 languages (English, Hindi, Marathi and Odia apart from Sanskrit) which I can use to explain. I encourage my students to ask question, discuss and counter me. I prefer to play the role of facilitator rather than dictate the learners. I believe in providing an atmosphere where the learner gets to learn himself/herself the subject and take interest in learning than mugging up. I always try to connect the learner's previous knowledge to the coming one, e.g., Indians while learning Sanskrit should know that Sanskrit is very close to our own language and not a difficult one by providing the words from Sanskrit that match phonetically our dialects/languages. Even English language speakers can find lots of similarities between Sanskrit and English by tracing out their roots.
I have experience of teaching various age groups right from the school level to senior citizens whoever shows interest in learning.
My formal and informal students have been employed in schools, colleges and universities and have earned reputation in their fields which I think are my accomplishments.
