Place cranberry juice (1 cup), orange juice (1/2 cup), one forth cup of water and brown sugar(2 tbsp) in small saucepan and boil.
Reduce heat and cook for fifteen minutes. Combine cornflour( 1tsp) with two teaspoons of water and add to the sauce and simmer till the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and add orange zest(1/4 tsp).... Best Regards .. Gourmet Guru.

KRIYA cooking -
Ingredients - 100g light muscovado sugar, 100ml orange juice, fresh or from a carton, 250g pack fresh or frozen cranberry
Method - Tip the sugar and orange juice into a pan, then bring to the boil. Stir in the cranberries, then simmer until tender but still holding their shape -- this will take about 5 mins if using frozen cranberries or 8-10 mins if using...  more»

Its hard to tell 'in quanitity' since there's no mention of an actual measurement of that 'one cup' in the question. But one katori (small bowl used for dal/curry etc.) would make sufficient rice for 3 people if accompanied by other indian meal recipes -- roti, subji, dal.

Ingrediants:
Sweet Potato ? ? 5 Peeled and Cubed
Turmeric Powder ? ? 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds ? ? 1 tsp
Dry red Chilli - 1
Curry leaves -1 spring
Salt to taste
Oil- 2 tblspn
For Roasting and Grinding:
Coconut ? ? 3 tblspn
Dry Red Chilli - 4
Channa Dal ? ? 1 tblspn

Sweet Potato Poriyal
Ingrediants:
Sweet Potato � 5 Peeled and Cubed
Turmeric Powder � 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds � 1 tsp
Dry red Chilli - 1
Curry leaves -1 spring
Salt to taste
Oil- 2 tblspn
For Roasting and Grinding:
Coconut � 3 tblspn
Dry Red Chilli - 4
Channa Dal � 1 tblspn
Coriander Seeds � 1 tblspn
Cumin Seeds � 1 tsp

Method:

Dry roast all the ingrediants given in the list except coconut for 5 mins on a low heat till the colour changes. Add coconut and roast it for 3-4 mins untill it turns light brown colour. Remove it and allow it to cool down. Now grind it in a blender till it turns into a powder. Set this aside.
Heat oil in a kadai. Add mustard,dry red chilli and curry leaves and let it pop. Add in sweet potato along with salt and turmeric and give a mix.
Add some water and cover the pan. Simmer it till the potatoes are cooked and all water has evaporated.
Now add in the powder and mix well. Fry for 2 mins.
Serve with rice. «less

Basting means applying any kind of fat like butter, oil over food (Ex: in making of tandoori chicken) while cooking. It helps in keeping it moist.
