Overview

I'm an online tutor who holds a graduate degree in Visual Communication and a Masters in Mass Communication. I not only tutor for Spoken English, but also for French & all other subjects that fall within the realm of my specialization (i.e., Visual Communication & Mass Communication).

On a freelance coaching basis, I've been taking spoken English training classes for around two years, and French tutoring classes for five years. (The French classes have been for 11th standard students, 12th standard students, and for college students at the Bachelor's Degree course-level. Please note that the French classes are purely training for writing the respective examinations and not for learning how to speak French.)

Communication has become essential in today's world, and English, being the current universal language, is at the helm. My MO is to teach every student to speak and communicate naturally in English, to make you OWN the language as your own. For in essence, every language merely exists so that we can express ourselves to each other. How effectively and naturally one can do that is what will set that person apart from the crowd. If you're a student, my suggestion to you from the get-go is this: Don't fear the subject or it's use. It was molded in the first place by humans - people just like you and me - which means that you can learn it too.

"A very patient and hardworking person. Puts in great effort to make the student understand the concept. Gives fantastic examples and definitely possesses great skill and ability to teach. She is very enterprising and does not let the student feel stressed out. Helped me tremendously, cleared all my doubts and made me feel confident enough to face my board exams. My classes with her certainly helped me study with 0% stress and eventually I scored in 90's during my 12th boards. "

That's because, usually, when "ui" comes together in a word, then it's pronounced as "wi". For example, "Quilt" is pronounced "Qwilt"; "Quill" is pronounced "Qwill", and so on. (There are exceptions to the rule, of course. But this is generally the case.)

Then I seriously suggest using a good spell-check software. Perhaps the free browser extension from Grammarly? Other than that, you'll need to read more books in order to get familiar with the spellings of words. Good luck!

It's because of the separation of syllables in each of the words. "Decide" has two syllables: "de" and "cide". The "cide" part ends with an "e" and so we pronounce the "i" in this syllable as a long vowel. "Decision" has three syllables: "de", "ci" and "sion". The "cide" part ends with an "e" and so we pronounce the "i" in this syllable as a long vowel. "Decision" has three syllables: "de", "ci" and "sion". There is no "e" at the end of the second syllable in this word (or anything else that would make this vowel a long vowel) and so we pronounce the "i" in this syllable as a short vowel. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule. But generally, if there is a vowel in the middle of any syllable that ends with the letter "e", it's usually pronounced as a long vowel. For example, "re-side", "hide", "con-fide", "bon-a-fide" (i.e., "bonafide" in US pronunciation), etc. (Also note: In most of these cases of pronouncing long vowels, the syllable not only ends with the letter "e", but it is also the final syllable in the word.)

Two syllables. "Sci" and "ence". It's just that we usually don't notice the (slight) change when we pronounce the word; that shift from the first syllable to the second. But it's there.
