About the Course
What is Embedded System?
An embedded system is a computer system with a dedicated function within a larger mechanical or electrical system. A processor is an important unit in the embedded system hardware. It is the heart of the embedded system.
Embedded systems development has been an integral part of the Indian IT-R&D ecosystem growth. The industry also witnessed start-ups in industries such as Telecom, Consumer Electronics, Semiconductors set up their own centers at various locations across India.
Embedded Systems in day to day life:
Embedded systems are becoming pervasive by the day and have now become an integral part of our lives. They are a key part of even industries such as Automotive and Aviation. On an average, electronics constitute 35 per cent of an average car’s cost. Even the low-cost Tata Nano features a microcontroller to control the engine performance.
Telecommunications systems employ numerous embedded systems from telephone switches for the network to mobile phones at the end-user. Computer networking uses dedicated routers and network bridges to route data. Consumer electronics include personal digital assistants (PDAs), mp3 players, mobile phones, videogame consoles, digital cameras, DVD players, GPS receivers, and printers. Many household appliances, such as microwave ovens, washing machines and dishwashers, include embedded systems to provide flexibility, efficiency and features. Transportation systems from flight to automobiles increasingly use embedded systems. New airplanes contain advanced avionics
By 2015, it is estimated that 70 per cent of the product development effort in embedded systems will focus on the software component, a traditional strength area of the Indian IT-R&D industry. As per NASSCOM, more Job opportunities are awaiting for freshers
