in this age kids have no intelligence , u have to teach as per kid psychology , better to repeat method orally and writing , but for 1 to 3 class kids , u stick charts to the walls , kids will see always and remember, flash cards not suitable they will see only one time and forget

4-5 words per day would help with repeated revisions everyday. depending upon child's ability to remember the words. and little practice in using those words in conversation will make them remember those words and will increase their Hindi vocabulary !

Learning spelling is not a solution to this problem.They should be trained to read longer words by dividing thm into smaller words and sounds.This will enable them to remember the spellings instead of cramming them.

Break the word and then tell the spelling and go on revising the spelling again and again but not at a stretch. Ask the child anytime anywhere. They will learn the spelling automatically.

Apart from breaking the words and phonetic method you could try dis one. Use a slate or whiteboard and write the word in BIG BOLD letters, then ask the kid to read it aloud and look at it and see it as a picture not a word then close eyes and remember the picture and then open eyes and spell the word....

Make them learn through placards and find the chit game...3-4 attempts of arranging the letters meaningfully will make them learn permanently. Let it be 2-3 words in a day. Periodical revision is a must.

Use photographic memory. Use similar looking words in a set. Ask to guess spellings based on phonetics and write it down - show the correct spelling and ask to remember the error letters only. This should help!
