My experience and tryst with coaching is on the unofficial grounds. In the engineering firm where I work, I taught the quantitative aptitude for juniors after office hours. More of them flocked pleased with the methodology or approach towards problem-solving. The strategy adopted is, by questioning,"why we are adopting a specific approach to find solution and where all it will be applicable and what will be the generalized methodology common for all case (including special conditions ). The impetus ultimately is on strengthening the ground basics. The final result of problems or queries have least significance as long as our approach is right .Having said that,with the right approach, we are eventually going to end up with right results.

Quantitative Aptitude

"I started going for his classes to learn the ground basics of solving mathematical problems, thereby enabling myself to have a clear-cut approach for attacking quantitative aptitude section pertaining to multifarious competitive exams. Slowly and steadily, I gained a grip in each and every topic, as he would elaborately explain the nuances associated with each one of them by solving multiple questions from them. Besides that, his teaching style involves deriving equations for obtaining shortcuts. This invariably creates a scenario wherein, the particular formula tend to remain in our sub-conscious mind as a conceptual outcome.This, needless to say, increases the longevity of retention. Further, he is very friendly in his approach. I asked certain doubts repeatedly, for which, he used to answer with the same amount of zest and zeal. Another telling feature in his teaching style is that he has never been too much conscious about the duration of each day class. That is, if a concept is unfinished, he would go all the way to complete it rather than calling it a day. Periodic assessments are done to gauge my level, which really helped me a lot. My speed of problem solving increased alongside the accuracy as well. He took painstaking efforts in preparing his own question papers with every possible twists, due to which, I could get an immense grasp in the topic concerned. He quite often encourages me to generate my own shortcuts by following a "what-if?" approach and hence fine. "

If "y" is the registered number of voters, 0.7*"y" =2800

Case 1: Let the total number of votes gained by B be "x".

Therefore,the votes gained by A will be "x+400".

Total number of votes gained by A and B put together is, therefore,

"(2*x)+400"....…......(1)

Case 2: When A gets 12.5% less votes,there would have been a tie.

Therefore, combined votes gained by both A and B is,

"(2*0.875*(x+400))"........…..(2)

Equating (1) and (2), we get

2*(x+200)=2*(0.875*(x+400)

0.125*x= (400*0.875)-200

X=150/0.125=1200

Number of people who voted= (2*1200)+400

=2800

If "y" is the registered number of voters, 0.7*"y" =2800

Therefore, y=(2800/0.7)=4000.

So total number of registered voters=4000.

Case 2: As the car travels at a uniform speed of vkm/hr for the first 120km and 25% higher speed for the rest of the distance saving 48 minutes of journey time on the whole,

Equation 3 is

(120/v) +((x-120)/(1.25*v))= t-0.8

Às t*v=x and we have already computed t= 6 hours, 6*v=x.

Substituting the value of (6*v) instead of x and 6 hours as "t" value in equation 3, we get

V= 60km/hr.

Hence distance x= 60*6=360 km
