What is the difference between ++var and var++?

++var is the pre-increment operator, that means firstly the value of variable is incremented and then assign new value to the variable. Do array subscripts always start with zero?

Yeah, array always start with zero in computer memory, but you can also insert element from the first element, according to your program and that point the zero subscript is filled by NULL.
