An Overview of the Hindi Language

Hindi is the official language of India which originally used to refer to the inhabitants of the region east of Indus. The term 'Hindi' is borrowed from the Persian word 'Hendi' which means 'Indian'. The Hindi language is direct descended from Vedic Sanskrit. Apart from India, Hindi is also spoken in countries such as Nepal, Tobago, Mauritius, and Trinidad. Many English terms are also derived from Hindi language such as bungalow, guru, yoga, jungle. Hindi belongs to the Indo-Iranian sub-family of the Indo-European family of language. It has been influenced by Persian, Portuguese, Turkish, South Indian Dravidian and English. The first book ever was published in Hindi was Prem Sagar. Despite being spoken in the neighbouring countries of India, Hindi is not a common language of communication in different parts of the country such as South India where Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu languages are majorly spoken. There are different dialects of the Hindi language which uses the same Devanagari script. When you converse with strangers and elders, it is advisable to converse only in formal Hindi, as informal Hindi may be construed as inappropriate or rude.

Hindi learning for beginners

Learning Hindi can be easy if started with the right approach. Jumbling words, sentences and grammar rules, context, all together would confuse a new Hindi learner, rather a systematic approach must be followed to learn the language in the right manner. For beginners, start with Hindi letters - Hindi Consonants and Vowels, next learn basic Hindi words and Hindi numbers 1 to 1000. Start with basics of the Hindi language and practice until you are clear.

English to Hindi transliteration

Learn a maximum number of words via English to Hindi transliteration, this way any doubt about a word or meaning can be instantly cleared. Once you have learned popular Hindi words, next start with sentence construction. Writing sentences would require knowledge of Hindi grammar to convey your message correctly. Beginners often struggle with Hindi grammar, which can be taken care of with Hindi grammar books where each grammar concept is explained with examples. Another critical aspect of learning the Hindi language is the speaking part. Non-native Hindi speakers should listen to audios, watch movies, news, to understand the sounds of the Hindi language. Listening to Hindi audio files would aid in learning techniques on how to speak Hindi fluently.

Hindi online classes

Many Hindi learners also take the help of Expert Hindi Trainer to read, write and talk fluently in Hindi. A dedicated trainer assists in learning the important aspects of the Hindi language and mastering it systematically. Often Hindi students from abroad join Hindi online classes to get the necessary help from experts.
