Born in 1945, I have been a professional Sitar Artiste for over 60 years.
Child Prodigy & Early Training
I have been nurturing a deep passion for playing Classical Hindustani on Sitar since my early childhood. As a child prodigy, i initially started my rigorous and tough training at the age of eight under my Guru Late Ustad Mohammad Khan Sahib of Gwalior Gharana . I later was taken under the tutelage of the respected Late Hashmat Ali Khan Sahib of Sainy Gharana of Gwalior where i continued his full-time training for three years until the age of 12. Upon the highest recommendation of his Guru, i also received a Specialized Intensive Coaching under the mentorship of Ustad Hafiz Ali Khan at Bharatiya Kala Kendra, New Delhi
Self Training & Performances
After that , i continued to self train throughout his college education in Electrical Engineering and throughout my active service life as a highly accomplished Engineer and Entrepreneur.
I have been performing in Classical Music concerts throughout India - in Northern and Southern States. I am also a proficient Tabla player and has accompanied reputed artistes of classical music - vocal and instrumental in various concerts.
I also been an accredited National grade Artiste at Akashvani (All India Radio) Chennai where My recorded Sitar performances have been aired between 1993-1997.
Recent Accomplishments
I have recently conducted a comparative analysis of Classical Hindustani and Carnatic Music traditions and compilation of new ragas from the fusion of two traditions. This work was duly recognized by the faculty of Kalakshetra Adyar (Chennai).
