He started from the absolute basics and went to few more complex topics such as framing and composition etc. We did some practical sessions as well with white balance and flash photography. I was able to practice photography and come back to class to get feedback on my photos as well. "Not only is he an accomplished photographer, he is also professional in imparting knowledge on photography in a simple but very effective way. Our 14 year old daughter has under his guidance, gained a lot in the field of photography through his course. His methodolgy for training is systamatic and well drafted. Besides theory, he insists on practical usage of the camera during the training sessions. This has given her an indepth knowledge of the technical aspects of a camera, particularly in the selection of camera settings. It has been a very knowledgeable experience for our daughter. "I had a great learning experience with Santosh Sir. Even before getting started, we had a long conversation around the camera I had, lenses as well as my interests around photography. Trust me, I had my experiences with weekend photography workshops / classroom types training which burden you with loads of info and you lose grasp of most things by the end of the day. Mr Santosh ensured that we took the course at a pace I could keep up with and had hands on sessions as well which helps you put in use the knowledge. I certainly am more confident to let go of the AUTO mode and use my camera the way its meant to be used. He ensures that you master the camera system and whatever additional lens/ flash/ tripods you may have. I would definitely recommend him for anyone who wants to get out of the Auto mode and dive into the art of photography. "

Hi Megha, Photography classes is another creative pursuit you can consider. Doesn't matter which camera type/make/model if you have the eyes for taking pictures...go for it..all the best.

Is raw file better than jpeg? When I compare raw with jpeg file after clicking from my camera, both look same. What's the difference?

If you are going to process your image, yes RAW is better. The JPEG on the other hand are compressed processed files of smaller file size and doesn't allow the kind of bandwidth a raw would for post processing. RAW image size is thus bigger than the JPEG. Reviewing pics on the camera LCD is not advised... ...more

Reviewing pics on the camera LCD is not advised because the LCD is a small area cramped with pixels and doesn't show the dynamic range your computer screen would. Even on your computer, please view your pics on the picture viewer provided by your camera manufacturer instead of Microsoft picture viewer. Should I use flash during day time while taking portraits ?

If there is a need to fill in the hard shadows on the subject due to the way the subject is positioned (if the light source is behind the subject/if the subject is wearing headgear, cap, hat or heavy jewelry etc) then you might want to use fill flash and for added effect you can use a diffuse screen... ...more
If there is a need to fill in the hard shadows on the subject due to the way the subject is positioned (if the light source is behind the subject/if the subject is wearing headgear, cap, hat or heavy jewelry etc) then you might want to use fill flash and for added effect you can use a diffuse screen to further spread and soften the lighted emitted from the flash. Remember that once you bring in a flash you might want to balance between light from the flash with the available ambient light. Regards, Santosh J
