Is raw file better than jpeg? When I compare raw with jpeg file after clicking from my camera, both look same. What's the difference?

Indeed RAW file is better than JPEG. A 14bit RAW file has 2^14 color range compared to 8bit JPEG. The dynamic range of RAW is so good, recovery from highlights, shadows, exposure is only possible in RAW. If you compare both files within the camera itself, then both are JPEG preview only. I want to buy a good DSLR for photography can you suggest me which should I buy Nikon or Canon. My budget is Rs. 30000 - 40000.

I would suggest Nikon D5300, way more good than 700D. You can compare your cameras here: http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon-EOS-700D-vs-Nikon-D5300 Im suggesting Nikon becuase its way more user friendly, more no. of focus points, high MP, good resolution LCD, tilting LCD, WiFi connectivity etc
