A good understanding of C language gives you good command over the language constructs, Programming logic and Data structures and their applicability. This will make it easy for you to learn/adopt any other language.

Just change the enum definition and your program is valid with new values. 3. enums help the programs by helping them make fewer mistakes. [for ex., usage of a wrong constant], missing to change the value in some places]These mistakes will not be syntactical and hence compiler will not catch. Just that program misbehaves.

What is the difference between ++var and var++?

first one is pre incrementing, second one is post incrementing. Lets take an example; int a,b=10, c; a=++b; c=b++; The values you get will be a=11; b=12, c=11; In case of pre-incrementation, increment happens first, then assignment. In case of post increment, assignment happens first and then... ...more
