Drawing: An Exercise For A Restless Mind

Drawing a form of art used to express feelings, emotions, and imagination. It can be simple strokes or an intricate picture. It is the finest form of visual art to exercise a dreamer’s mind. Thus, a dreamer’s understanding of life often lies on the dance of the pencil, brush, graphite, charcoal and many more. Drawing is known as one of the oldest forms of communication and an effective means of human expression to a concept, emotions or a fantasy. Therefore, the famous Canadian-American painter, George Bridgman once sturdily said, "In drawing, one must look for or suspect that there is more than is casually seen".

On the other side, it is simply a manifestation of a drafter who holds apparatuses including graphite pencils, pen, ink, wax colour, pencils, crayons, charcoal, chalk, pastels, erasers and much more depends on its purpose and nature. Drawing comprises several things and it has been divided into various forms like Analytic Drawing, Perspective Drawing, Emotive Drawing, Geometric Drawing, Diagrammatic Drawing, Illustration Drawing, Life Drawing (a real observation) and most essentially Sketching. Often used as illustrations, drawing has been classified into three essential categories (in particular), Preparatory drawing, Casual drawing and Finished drawing. Casual Drawing: The most common drawing style among everyone, casual drawing is customarily incomplete and unrefined. Therefore, an instant thought of an artist or an imaginative rough freehand drawing style, sketching is considered as one of the best examples of Casual drawing. When it comes to sketching, it has been classified into three various types including portrait sketch (artistic representation of a person where face and expression), Croquis Sketch (Croquis sketch is a quick craft of a live model) and Pochade Sketch (sketch which is prevalent catches the landscape and climate of a scene).

Preparatory Drawing: Preparatory drawing is ordinarily done in pencil or charcoal and in some cases its exchange to the canvas or board for painting. This drawing is classically referred to more completed and careful works as compare to casual drawing. It often uses a different medium, but the distinction is imprecise. This form of drawing denotes the creation of a specific image or sometimes series of images, which the artist intends to complete by adding paints, coloured inks and much more.

Finished Drawing: Finished drawing is one of the most complete, well enrich and construe drawing. In fact, its visual explanation is influential as it determinedly represents the artist’s perspective and thought process. The artist has put all of him in the art, therefore there is no further work required in the finished drawing. Among the most prominent examples, illustrations finished drawing, graphic design, cartoon and much more are considered the best.
